Where has April gone?

Hello friends!  Sorry for the delay of posting...where have the last three weeks gone!  Well a lot has happened.  First, we started Nell Bell on rice cereal.  She wasn't that into it.  Sometimes she would eat it and sometimes reject it all together.  I tried oatmeal after a week and she hated that.  The last week and half we she has been sick with a cold (that she got from me :(  and hasn't been eating at all.  I am a little worried because her six month check up is on Monday and I know I have to start foods but Nellie is not loving it!  I can't wait to see how much she weighs and where she is on the growth chart.  She has been in the %25 for weight and %50 for height since she was born BUT I think she has passed that, she's huge!!!
"Uh...this bland poo is not that great."
"I prefer my Mama!"
At first, we tried to feed her in her bumbo seat but she was leaning too far forward, so we busted out the high chair.  This way we could lean her back some.  Doesn't she looks so small in that thing!!!???
Another little baby at a party we went to.  Aren't they precious!!??
Here's some of Nellie's recent outfits.  (hey don't judge me for posting these, she's a cute baby!)

Easter pics! Unfortunately is was cold and rainy on Easter so we didn't get to go outside and take cute pics.  So here is Nellie on our bed sitting in a basket.
Chillin' with her duck and new stuffed animals from Great Grandma.
I just thought this was funny face.
Family pic.  Took several times with the camera on a timer to get Nellie to look at the camera with us.
In other big news...we bought this house!!!  It all happened very quickly and inspections aren't until next week, so it won't feel like mine until after that.  I looked at about 12 houses and then narrowed it down and took Cody on April 16th to see them.  Tax season ended on the 15th (obviously) so Cody had the next day off.  YEAH for tax season being over!!  Anyway, we loved this one and it was in our price range and about 2 minutes from Cody's office.  They also gave us a $3000 window allowance to put in the energy efficient windows.
I love the hardwood floors.

This is the room we will have to do some work on.  We need to update the wood paneling and fireplace.  But the rooms have all new carpet so that can stay.  I am so excited to start decorating and since it's three bedroom if you come visit us, you will get your own room!  Closing is May 29th!

5 MONTHS!!

Nellie recently got a new hat from one of her Great Aunties and I LOVE it!  She looks so precious in it and I haven't seen any babies in Alb. wearing anything like it.  I can switch out the bow to match whatever she's wearing.
Just got it in the mail.  You can see she's thrilled in this one.
Sweet face.  Her eyes are still blue.  Lighter in the center and then darker on the edges.

Friday was Nellie Bean's 5 month birthday.  To celebrate we took her for her first ride in her big girl stroller.  Remember this Maclaren stroller we got?  Well now that she can somewhat support herself she can ride in this one.  Doesn't she look huge!!!
Nellie and Oliver (Gabe and Gelaine's little boy) flirting at a BBQ at their house this weekend.  Aren't they so sweet!?  Oliver is so adorable with Nellie.  He's real gentle and gives her hugs and kisses and him and Lucy take turns "playing" with Nellie.
An here's Lucy.  She's the best helper ever.

I love these silly pics of Nellie standing on the couch in her pj's.  Her head looks enormous with skinny little legs.
Haven't shown ya'll a screaming pic in awhile.  These were her new 3-6 month pj's so I had to get a  pic but Nellie was done for the day as you can see.
Playing with Daddy on the couch.  See the video below to watch Nellie picking up the clicker.  She's starting to grab everything and it's so cute!
I did a little 5 month photo shoot and  I captured some funny faces below!
This one she seems to be saying "my cheeks are too big I can't hold my head up anymore!"

On Sunday we all dressed up in our Moroccan clothes and did a little spot for the kids classes about how people in Morocco dress and taught them a couple of French and Arabic words.  Here is Nellie in her takshita.

Cody wearing his djellaba.
(Karen was right about the last video...it was the theme song to the show House!)

So I was going to try the rice cereal on her 5 month birthday Friday but we went out that night and got home late.  We have been busy every evening and by the time we get home it's time to give Nellie a shower and put her to bed.   I don't want to try food for the first time while she's tired and ready for bed.  I do want to have her practice in the next few weeks before her sixth month check up when she has to start foods so hopefully soon we will start.

I can't believe my little baby will be 6 months soon.  People were not joking around when they say time flies.  She's so big and developing this little personality.  Luckily for me, she's likes to cuddle.  I am a super touch person so all day I am giving her kisses and hugs.  In the morning I put her in bed to feed her and we go back to sleep together and she has to be laying right up next to me with her head facing me.  If I try and scoot over she wiggles her way over so she's pressed up against me.  I know I'm not done breast feeding yet but I can already tell you I am really gonna miss it when she stops.

Tonight we are all going to our first Sedar dinner.  I have never been to one but I am looking forward to the experience.  There is no childcare so I am sure there will be tons of families.  Have a great week everyone!!!

Video Addendum

I just finished a super long photo post but I decided to add a couple of videos too.  The first one is Nellie laughing and smiling (can you name the theme song playing in the background?) The second one is her talking and you can tell she gets excited at the end.  And then watch for her signature slow motion closing of the hands.  It's all very dramatic.

Just a few pics...

Okay, avid blog readers get ready for a RIDICULOUS amount of photos from the last few weeks.  Here's what happens when I don't blog every week, a lot to make up.  Here are Nellie and I getting ready to go on first trip with just the two of us.  Cody dropped us off at the airport and I had her stroller, sling and Ergo (the carrier you seen in the pics) and one carry-on that we shared.  Everyone was pretty helpful.  Nellie slept all but one leg of the flights.  I nursed her on take offs and landings just in case it would hurt her ears.
We were visiting my brother Jason and his wife Sarah.  It was so fun for Nellie to get to play with them.  My parents came for a couple a days too!
Eating out.
Nellie thought her Uncle Jason was sooo funny!
New shirt from my mom.  She looks good in yellow.
Getting kisses and playing with Aunt Sarah at a coffee shop downtown.  Sarah was a great tour guide!
Here is Nellie's St Patty's day outfit.  She looked so cute cause the shirt was tight and you could see her little pot belly!
I made sure to add the pink headband so people was sure she was girl.
So sweet!
This is a famous cupcake stand that we stopped at right before they took us to the airport.  Thanks Jason and Sarah for a great visit to Austin!
Here is Nellie ready for church on Sunday.  It's so weird how all the sudden she is wearing 3-6 month clothing.  It seemed to happen all at once and so fast (well she is almost 5 months).  Some of her 0-3 stuff still fits but it's fun to get to have a whole new wardrobe every few months.
Our friends Bren and Andy came through Sunday to stay the night.  That is their baby, Macey, whom you may remember from previous posts.  Macey is two months older than Nellie.
Bren and I were discussing how weird it is that all of the sudden we are pushing 30 (hey 27 is pretty close) and driving around with babies.  When did we become grown-ups?!  I have known Bren since elementary so it's so strange that we are so old but I still feel the same!
Nellie is not sure about Macey yet.  I learned a lot about Nellie's personality this week.  Macey is loud and hyper and constantly moving.  Nellie is super chill and calm and I think pretty sensitive (all like her father).  Macey would squeal and reach out for Nellie and Nellie would get overwhelmed and cry.  She started to get use to her and they were talking by the end.  I forget that not all babies are like Nellie so it was insightful to see their different personalities.
They happen to have matching pj's.  You can imagine how difficult it was to get two babies to sit still and both look at the camera the same time.  Macey kept reaching for Nellie and Nellie kept falling over.
Macey:  Hello friend!  Let's play!
Nellie:  What the heck is this crazy baby doing!?

Bren says Nellie is just snobby!  :)
Hi cute babies!
Here are some fun random pics from late.  I think she looks like such a big girl in this pic.
Sweet smile.
Pouty lips and big blue eyes.
Nellie's new shades.  The crazy thing is she doesn't seem to mind or even know that she's wearing them.  She never tries to pull them off or anything.
Chillin'.
Nellie sporting her rain boots.  Hey, you never know when she is going to want to go splash in some puddles.
Taking a little snooze on Daddy's shoulder.  Her lips look so funny, like a little fish.
I thought her expression in this pic was priceless!

So Friday is Nellie's 5 month birthday.  I think I might introduce rice cereal mixed with breast milk on this day.  Just so we have a month to get use to eating before we have to start vegetables and stuff.  She is still sleeping through the night so I don't think she necessarily "needs" it but I'll just try it once a day so she can start practicing eating from a spoon.

Cody is trudging along in tax season.  Sometimes working 7 days a week and 10 hour days.  I am excited for April 15th to hurry up and get here!

See ya next time!
