Cody celebrated his 29th birthday on June 25th. eeekkk last year in the 20's!!! Doesn't bother him AT ALL. Must be nice that men can age gracefully while woman hold on to their youth with botox and spanx.

We went to Las Cruces for the weekend and my parents watched Nellie while we had a nice date night out to celebrate.

Cuddling with Papi.

Then for 4th of July weekend we went to Glorieta with Cody's fam, sans his sister Ali who just had her tonsils out.

Taking a little stroll in the Ergo.

We went to the fireworks show in Pecos, which was surprisingly spectacular. At first there was about 2 minutes of baby firecrackers and we were severely disappointed. But then the real show started up and lasted for like 20 minutes!

Nell's 4th outfit.

Lounging at the cabin after a morning of pancakes on the plaza in Santa Fe.

Watching the show from the pick up.

Reading a book with Lala.

And watching Nemo with Dada.

Lauren's new boyfriend joined us for the weekend. Meet Dave everyone!

A few cutie pie pics for your viewing pleasure...

Look at the pitiful pout face.

And in other news, we got a splash park near our house. It's more relaxed than a pool because they can't drown. This summer has been sweltering!

Playing in a bucket of water at a friend's house. Toddler's really enjoy the simple pleasures in life :)

Sharing and ice cream with mama.

And we took Nellie on her first camping trip! She did great. We zipped up our bags and put her in the middle of us. I was worried about us getting cold but the opposite happened and we were roasting in there! She slept all night and loved playing in the woods and dirt.

Her friend Ina that was also camping with us.

After a long and sweaty hike.

Our babies crashed out in the Ergo's.

Nice little nap on mama.

I was trying to teach Nel how to blow on these but I think this must be a different species of dandelion or something b/c that thing would not budge. I was blowing as hard as I could and not one seed floated away.

Come on, harder Nel!

So we resorted to pulling them off.

Macey came up for a visit too. The girls played really well together. And here is our token bath time photo we always take. Bren and I enjoyed a fun girls night out by going to the movies to see Letters to Juliet at the cheap theater and then off to the Hard Rock Casino. I played craps for the first time and won $25...woo hoo!!!!

Nellie's boyfriend Titus. These kids play so well together and follow each other around...super cute.

Hard at work in the sandbox.

Here is Nellie showing off her new teefers. She's almost got a full mouth now. When I pull out the camera she yells "CHEEEESE," seriously, I did not teach her that.

And look how long her hair is getting. She is the flower girl in Ali's wedding next weekend so I will probably have her first trim after that.

When I say "Okay Nel it is time to go," she immediately grabs the nearest toy, book, shoe, etc...to take with us on our adventure and runs to the door. Well today she puts on this ridiculous headband and grabs this obnoxious barking dog and runs to the door. How you gonna say "no" to that face?

check out Nellie's new shoes (click to enlarge). She looks adorable in them. They are checkered Vans that slide on. And if you are wondering why she's carrying around a swim diaper it's b/c it has Nemo on it.

Woo hoo ready for church!
And in final news...
WE ARE EXPECTING!!!
A baby...yes. Pregnant...no. Three months ago we decided to adopt our next baby and now our home study is complete and our book is being shown to moms. We are doing domestic, mostly working with an agency in Alabama to find a match but are working through a local lady who goes to our church. We will get an infant and have not specified gender or race. The process has been crazy so far. We have already had three moms interested but all have decided to parent their baby. So it's sort of this roller-coaster of emotions. We have a baby...oh wait, no we don't! We do hope to get pregnant again (Lord willing) but decided this was the right time and way to add to our family right now.
Here are some adorable videos of Nel talking:
This is Nellie's first full sentence she said to me a couple of days ago (in reference to holding her up to see the rain on the balcony)
When I try and get Nel to say "I love you" she will say it word by word but when she puts the whole thing together it's a mess that ends in "much." (so at the end you'll hear "I love you much!")
Here is what Nellie says after she has been disciplined. How could you not forgive her after this...
And for your final viewing pleasure, here is a video of Jason singing a solo at church when we were visiting in Austin. I just think he is so talented so I thought I would share ;)

woo hoo on expecting another little one! will be praying with you guys as you go through the emotional roller coaster that is the adoption process...i can't imagine. But HE knows your heart and will give you the grace to wait on HIS timing for the perfect baby for your family. Nell is getting cuter all the time btw, and she is going to be a GREAT big sister!
I so want to hear more about the adoption process Carrie! It's something I'm really interested in at some point and think it's wonderful that you and Cody (And Nellie) are opening up your home and hearts to a baby (and birth parents) who need love and support. Blessings to you all in the process!
