Last week we took a trip way down south to the Sahara. On our way we made many stops. We were on a tour minibus with 18 people from all over the world. Here is one of our stops at a gorge.
Another famous gorge just a different type.
We also stopped at a kasbah and some Berbers showed us how they make carpets. Here this women is teaching me to prepare the sheep's wool.
Of course they served tea and make their obligatory sales pitch. Two people bought rugs but the prices weren't actually that great compared to what we get in my friend's village.
It's so crazy because as you are driving the sand dunes just all of the sudden start and go on for miles. This is outside the dunes when we first arrived to mount up on our camels.
Let the sunset trek begin.
These pics were pretty difficult to take on a moving camel but I managed to get a few in focus.

As soon as we arrived there was an enormous dune in front of us and we immediately started running to the top. It was a lot more difficult than we expected and we were completely out of breath and it took about 20 minutes to make it up. The sand is super soft and you sink right down. We then ran and jumped all the way back down. Sigh...so fun.
It was pretty cold at night. Here we are listening to singing and drums around the campfire.
This our tent that we slept in. It's funny how the ground gets harder as the night progresses.
The three of us enjoying the sunrise over the dunes back at the starting point.

This was our guide. This dude is legit.
On the way home we decided to ditch the minibus and take a shortcut by going 7 hours in this taxi with 7 people. We are sharing a bucket seat and Cody was folded in half. My legs fell asleep a lot. But we managed to cut about 6 hours out of our trip. We arrived at a city and took a 3 hour train home. So those are our desert adventures! I can leave North Africa happy knowing I have seen the Sahara.

So funny! Michael totally bought a rug for way too much money during one of the obligatory sales pitches. I wish you guys had been with us to show us the ropes.
Looks like a fun adventure. May I ask to whom you were referring when you said, "The three of us.."? The two of you are in the picture. Am I missing something about the 3rd person?
Ha! Were you trying to be all covert in that "the three of us" comment??? Tricky...
Wow- what a cool trip! That's one of the few places I'd still like to see- that and those big waterfalls. Someday I guess... CL
Yea, fess up. What about "the three of us?"
Joe
Yes, I, too picked up on something fishy about the "three of us" comment... do elaborate.
