Our friend, Bobby, here in Las Cruces is involved with a program that helps fund heart surgeries for Iraqi children in need. His friend lives in Iraq and sells shoes that the people of Iraq make by hand. They ship shoes all over the world. Adult shoes are $100 but I was surprised to learn that only $50 goes to the kids because the shoes cost $50 to make! They are expensive but are so well made they last forever so the people keep the same pair for a long time. Check out the website http://buyshoessavelives.com/ for all the stories and info!
Here is the blue and red being modeled with the heel worn up.

The makers of the shoes in Iraq put a ton of tiny nails in the toe and heel of the sole. Well in Iraq (just like where we lived in North Africa) they take their shoes off at the door. The nails are for added structural support but Americans don't like them b/c they scratch of the tile and tear up the carpet. Our job this night was to removed all those little nails on each shoe before they get sent out.
Admittedly, I wasn't as productive as the guys, but I contributed! We also helped bag and label them. So, there is my schpeel on buy shoes, save lives so get to it and buy some!
BG Update:
-Not a whole lot going this week with BG. She is growing fast and by my ultrasound on Wednesday she should be between 4-5 pounds!
-On Thursday we are interviewing a pediatrician that comes recommended from 4 people in Albuquerque. The cool thing is their practice has two locations and between the two of them they are open seven days a week until 11 p.m. This is good since a lot of babies get sick in the evening and I can take BG to the pediatricians office on the weekend and evenings. So hopefully we will have that settled this week.
-I am hoping all will check out well and I will be able to get a note from my midwife on Friday to be able to fly to Virginia on Monday. I know, I know, 35 weeks is a little late but still within airline policy. We will be gone Monday-Saturday and I have my baby shower on Sunday.
-Also, on Tuesday we took our breast feeding and baby care basics class. There were 4 other couples plus a single girl in our class. I learned almost nothing new but stuff about hospital policy and how it all works. Yes, I was the annoying girl who knew all the answers...but c'mon nobody else hardly answered! Was I the ONLY one in the class who has read over 10 books?...geez!
So here is a pic of me and BG this week. Stayed tuned next for ultrasound pictures, State Fair, and possible apartment pics (depending on how much we get done :)!

Way to go Carrie! Nice commercial, very informative. And you were very productive!
We are so excited for you as the time approaches for BG to make her first appearance! I (Cameron) was wondering if you might share with me how you came to the decision to go natural? I soak up this kind of info!
You two look great:)
