The Last Month

So here is what's been happening the past month. (except for my weekend wedding extravaganza in Houston which i haven't downloaded the pics yet). Nellie will be a year old next month....AAAHHHH! Technically she will still be a baby as long as she doesn't walk. Because once babies "toddle" around they must be called toddlers. Tear. So the other good things is she's so tiny people think she's way younger than she is. And the fact that she doesn't have a head full of hair. As you can tell, I am trying to hold on to her babyhood as long as possible. This is so surreal that a year as already passed.

*UPDATE*
I finished the blog but hadn't posted yet so I could go put Nellie to bed and she pulled herself up and stood for a few seconds alone. So then I put her in front of me and she takes a few steps forward by herself to get to me. She does this several more times!!! Ahh, her babyhood is slipping away as I type!

So this pic is on our trip to the Natural Museum of Science and History or some name like that. This is right after Cody took his CPA test. He has passed the first two of four sections...woot woot! my man is smart!
Then we went out to a nice lunch. The lighting was really good for some pics.
Look Mom!
Sweet smiley girl.
this is old news now but nellie learned how to use all sippy cups including this one with the flip up straw. and she can drink out of regular straws. I never knew how thirsty she was until she was able to drink water by herself.
Pushing her hippo around. She is still not able to stand without holding on, but I am in no rush!
Nellie is playing with her friend Titus.
Cutey patootey.
This was a dress but I paired it with jeans to make a shirt, aren't i so resourceful?
this little dress is from our friends the Hagens who it sent it to us from the Philippines. So adorable! She has a pink and green one too.
I read on babycenter that usually their eyes have stopped changing by this point but i am not sure that Nellie's have. They are blue with green but they may still turn more green. (click to enlarge.
Nellie likes to turn the hamper over and then pull all the clothes out. She had to crawl inside to get them. What doesn't make sense is she will not go through the tunnels at baby play classes.
Cheese! This is how Nellie starts the day...sock, shoes and headband.
Several hours later.

This day we went to El Rancho de Las Golondrinas outside of Santa Fe with our friends Matt and Katie. This is a living history museum. Nellie got pooped out and surprisingly took a nap in her stroller while going over sand and rocks outside.
Look at those sweet lips and nose.
Now look at those long eyelashes and sweet cheeks.

Here is Nellie listening to the man below giving his presentation on movies that have been filmed at this location. She was fascinated.

WEEEEE!!!
Here is a hairstyle I was trying out. It's sort of an emo-fohawk.
That's it for now. Hopefully soon I'll post pics from Shell's wedding. Happy Fall everyone!!!

That dress from the Hagens is adorable- Jen can I put in a request if this one is a girl???

I've heard their eyes CAN change up to two years old- maybe MOST kids eyes are done changing by now? Her eyes are gorgeous anyway.

it is always hard to see one precious stage slipping away, but each and every stage seems to be more fun than the last so it isn't all sad. you will love the toddler years too!

and, kelley, i can't promise a duplicate dress since they are all hand-made and pretty much one-of-a-kind, but I will send you another cute one! :)
