Ballon Fiesta Time

Guess what time of year it is!? Ballon Fiesta time!!! I love the balloon fiesta. Last year I was two weeks from giving birth and went three times. In fact I went to the mass ascension in the morning and then the balloon glow that night and I thought I was going to die! I would have to stop and breath through contractions...but it was worth it! So this year our new condo is just south of the balloon park. As you can see on one day the balloons flew right over our heads and landed in the field behind our complex and the park just north of our complex. At 7 a.m. I was awoken by the flames going off right outside my open window. The people flew right over our balcony and we could talk to them.
Nellie and I walked to the field behind us and watched them take down some of the balloons.
Then on the weekend my family came in to town. Dad and Nellie enjoying the balloons for the balloon glow. This night was the special shapes so it was super cool.
Jason and Sarah are back! We have so much fun with those crazy kids.

So i brought my little point and shoot and didn't have much battery :( so unfortunately I didn't get many pics. Basically all these different shape balloons will light up at the same time or flicker the flames. It's neat b/c you actually get to walk through them all and go right up to the basket.
I put Nellie in my sling and on the long walk back she crashed out even though she was sitting up to start out. If you enlarge the picture you will see all this food on her face b/c we were feeding her in the dark while the fireworks were going off.
Here we are the very next morning at 5:30 a.m. The rest of my fam wussed out for the mass ascension of all the balloons. Nellie was excited until she fell asleep in her stroller on the way in.
For the first time we were there early enough to watch the dawn patrol. They send out about 10 balloons first to check everything out. It was really cool b/c they would all light up at the same time up in the air.
Poor Nellie woke up from her nap and she was so cold. She did not want to be put back in her stroller. She would arch her back and try to shimmy out when we set her down.

We met up with our friends Hal and Alicia and their daughter Avery.
So many balloons taking off in waves.

So even though it was a really tight fit with all of our layers on, I managed to stuff Nellie in the sling and then wrap a blanket around her. She was quite cozy after this. My back and legs were soooo tired by the end.

So you may recall this hat from last winter. It fits a little smaller but I still love it so much.

I think she looks so tall in this outfit. And see how she is standing up on her own. See video below to see some walking.
And I am kinda embarrassed I made her wear this. It's way too small but it's a Halloween outfit and i wanted her to wear it at least once.

This video is for Jason. Nellie makes her "bitter beer face" a lot in this one and he loves that face.

Nellie watched part of her first movie last weekend. My parents bought her Snow White and she was so excited. She never watches cartoons or anything so she was freaking out and clapping and dancing. She would point and talk to the TV and dance when the music came on.

Nellie knows how to put all the rings on this thing. This video doesn't capture it very well but it's so cute I posted it anyway. Watch how excited she gets when she gets one on.

I accidentally uploaded this one but left it. It's a video of Nellie spazzing out at a restaurant. She kept doing this while eating and it was so funny.

Nellie has a CD that she absolutely loves. If she's crying in the car she will stop and listen to the music. Now she dances to it and will clap along. She starts dancing in this one and then gets distracted when I call her name and I start dancing.

Nellie has been walking more and more. She will stand up without holding on to anything and then take several steps. She will also crawl over to her our feet and then stand up to have us pick her up. At first she would only do it if we stood her up and had her walk to us. Now she is taking steps all over the place without us!
